Copywriter

About

I’ve tried many roles as a writer: stand-up comic, retail manager, technical writer, and now, copywriter.

That windy background is at the core of my superpower to connect seemingly unrelated concepts and inject a little bit of levity to help recall a message. Taking lessons from each step along the way built me up to form the writer I am today, not unlike a copywriting dung beetle.

Now you might be thinking, ‘Buddy, just because you rolled a large collection of crap from different places into a ball, doesn’t make your ball not made of crap’. For those crap + crap = crap people out there, I challenge you to look harder at my ball of crap:

I learned to roll up my sleeves as a retail manager. No task was too big or small. While studying technical writing, I explored my passion for accurate communication and perfect word choice. My takeaway was an increased proficiency in grammar, editing, and researching. As a stand-up comic, I sharpened my wit and I practiced selling a joke when I wasn’t sure if it would land. Plus, I bombed a bunch and survived.

Now when I’m coming up with creative ideas, I’ve found my ball of historical crap is a rich source of sustenance to draw from. See what I mean about recall? This analogy might stink, but it’ll be hard to get it off you.
